Default another intake question

I guess i have a few questions here..... i know that the torker will fit under the stock hood but i have rec port heads...... is there enough material in the port to open it up? is there an intake that fits under the stock hood that is a single plane rec port?

Weiand makes a great intake. Also, why are you looking at a single plane? Is it a street rod, track? Most dual plane intakes these days give you the best of both worlds anymore. Any other mods?

468 dart pro-1 heads 10:1 compression HR cam with the tri-power it made 579HP at 5800 and 543ft/lbs at 5500... what im looking for is a better intake that will fit under the stock hood it will either get a plate or a fogger system...

The new one, Street Warrior, I believe is what they are calling it. Should give you what you want with your set up. You looking for more power on the bottom end or the top end? But this depends on your heads also. I think this may be for 1987 and later heads.

I dont know if its any better (I like your tri-power) but there is an LS6 intake on e-bay right now for not too horrible a price.

if we are talking big blocks then i do not think that the street warrior will fit. someone posted the A/B dimensions once and they were pretty much the same as the edelbrock performer which we know wont work.

I have the AirGap RPM on my small block. It does fit. The Weiand I am talking about is for a small block. But, I don't know whether you will get muh more than the tri-power you have already. You might call Holley and get their take on the right one ( since they now own Weiand) They should be ablle to get you where you need to go.

Good luck.

well i am trading a buddy his L88 hood for my low hood...... what intake you guys think.....

recap

468 dart pro-one heads here is the dyno sheet

I'm thinking Vic Jr since the plan is to hit it with a plate system 200-300hp and later a cam swap to take greater advantage of the heads

it does have tall gears 3.25's and a th400 with a 3000 stall..... cruises at 2500.

vr jr 3000-7500-
2500 cruise? a mismatch.
i'd look for a dual plane
Lucky You! there is a weiand stealth for it
something that flows enough cfm for 1500-6700!
summit has the wnd-8018 Rec port $198

ok but how is that going to work with a plate system? something in the 200-300hp range? and as far as a mismatch i would say it would be if i was asking for a bunch of power down there.... but at cruise does it need to be in it's power band?

579 HP at 5800 RPM`s , I would look no farther than the intake that produced that power

especially with a hydraulic cam and 10-1 compression

as ironcross points out, the tri-power is a fantastic street manifold.
as far as nitrous, use a port system, not a plate. it costs more, but it is worth it.
.
the rpm range refers to all around use. not just HP.
mpg w/ tri power might be 12-15 at 2500.
with a vic jr it might be 8-9. worse idle, stalls on cold starts, crappy in traffic or anytime it is below 3000.

here is my last intake

i still have the 4 nozzles but was going to sell it for a dual stage plate....

im not going to keep the tri-power on the car..... i may sell it. so back to a different intake.... you guys say vic jr should not be used and i should go with a dual plane intake..... guess i should look into the rpm air gap then and just buy 4 more nozzles and the noids.

Now that you have the L-88 hood the RPM Air-Gap would work for you.

L-88 hood height 4 1/8" by Eckler's (who is supposed to have the original molds) method. Height of blocks placed in hood drain rails w/ a straight edge marking underside of hood at carb center. Still tight.

the air gap sure has plenty of followers. if it has a cut down center divider, and u want it, i'd weld up the center divider, like on the stealth. If u don't, it will mimic a single plane at normal low speeds and the overlap will give it worse manners. But it costs $60 more, why not buy the sleeper stealth instead? A fully separated dual plane can live happily on the street with a bigger cam than anything cut down.

ok the RPM has the center cut down the regular performer does not have it cut down. you can not get the performer in an air gap you can get the performer RPM in an air gap..... The stealth has the divider cut down more then the RPM does

the RPM has a range of 1500-6500.... the stealth has a range of idle to 6800 the PRM air gap should keep the charge cooler and thus make more power...... plus the stealth does not have bungs for the nitrous...
