Default Radiator support/bracket weight?

Looking for the weight of the large piece of architecture that bolts to the two inner fender wells and supports the radiator and shroud. I'm trying everything I can think of to pull weight out of my '69, and this is the next item of interest (for a possible aluminum replacement). Anyone have (an early) C3 support that they could put on a scale?

TIA

Sorry, That's a guess, educated though it might be. Probably less than that though.

My pure guess is around 15 lbs. I just put a new one in 2 weeks ago, so it's still relatively fresh in my mind.

in general section. there is a thread called THE PARTS THREAD . a guy has one out of the car right now and he has a pic of it.. im sure he would weigh it for you although like everyone has said 15 is going to be pretty close. i relate everything to cartons of beer and its definatly less then that. glass that is , cans taste like but ill drink them if i have too.... and for curiosity what do you call a stubbie over there?

Some darn close guesses in some posts above. I'm impressed! I just read on another forum that the weight is 13 pounds and change. I appreciate the input.

Regarding "stubbies", I'll have to admit my total cluelessness.

That might be me? I've still got a new one in the garage waiting for the install.

I could weigh my '76 frame for you 69427 if you need the details. I enjoyed your old thread about stiffening your chassis so I'm happy to help if you need an exact number. (Bear in mind this is a repro from Ecklers though so I'm sure it's thinner metal than the original.)

Ben,

Thanks for the kind words about the chassis thread. I appreciate it.

The 13 pound quote from another forum is close enough for me at the moment. I just need to do some calculating now to determine the (material cost and my time)/(weight savings) ratio.

I saw someone quite a while ago that did an aluminum version. I asked for the weight of his lightweight part, but never saw an answer.
