Default Learning on the fly

This is the best place for knowledge and development. I`m not much for turning a wrench, but with the help from this forum I have not been afraid to at least try. My vette had EFI that a previous owner had installed. Didn`t run very well, and I wanted to go back to "old school".
Heres where I sit. 1980 L-82 Removed all of the EFI equipment. Installed Edelbrock Performer Intake. Davis United HEI installed. All new Livewires installed. Torn between QJet or Edelbrock carb. leaning toward QJET since I possess 2 of them and have the lokar parts(throttle cable brkt and springs srk-4000 and throttle cable tc-1000u) to hook up the throttle cable too. Question 1. where do I hook the vacuume advance from the HEI to? Question 2. I suppose I need to remove the fuel pump and regulator and replace it with a regular fuel pump. any recommendations ? I have more questions as well just haven`t gotten that far. So far you guys have been a great help. Any additional info would be great. Thanks in advance

Knowledge I find here by asking questions. Patience .....3 kids so I figure I have lots of that .lol Tools ..air compressor and a full array of hand tools and plenty of light in my garage. endless supply of cash? Houston we have a problem.
Looking at some other threads, the vacuum advance(assuming the can attached to the HEI is the vacuum advance) is connected to the carb.

The carb usually has both manifold and ported vacuum so just because its connected to the carb doesn't mean its not manifold.
