I pulled the vacuum advance unit from my stock distributor to see if it will help me dial in my timing to the target specs. The number on the can does not match any of those listed in Lars' paper and I can't seem to find it when casting a pretty wide search on the net. The number on the unit is 626 10. Any clues on the corresponding number from Lars' paper, or any ideas on the specs of this particular unit? I'm looking for something that delivers no more than 16 degrees advance and if this fits the bill I'll give it a try. The limiter window is fairly small so I expect it will not deliver as much advance as my current unit does which has a much larger window (ie 20).
No vac can experts? I guess I'll just give it the ol' college try and see what I get. I'm thinking I'll attach it to a full vac source and make sure it responds properly then try it with the dist if all is well. No risk except time lost....
