If this is the o-ring about 12mm in dia and about 3mm thick, it goes between the rear main cap and the block. There is a recess machined into the surface where it sits about 1.5mm deep. Failure to install this will result in an internal oil leak!
No sealant is required between the rear main seal & the block. Install this seal so it is flush or just slightly recessed from the outside edge of the block/cap.
