Need to know the differences between 2 base engines..
I am looking at temporarily dropping a SBC until I get all the issues worked out on my BB build. I would like to know the differences between a '73 L48 and a 2bbl 350 out of '75 El Camino. Do they use the same short block? Do you they both have 8.5:1 Compression? Is it a nodular crank, pink rods and cast pistons?
If they are both the same, I plan on stuffing a pair of L82 heads, the cam out of my L82, a thinner head gasket to bump up the compression a little bit (or should I go with an oem style felpro gsket), a performer rpm manifold, and a holley 650 DP.
I am not looking to spend a lot, but I am trying to get the most performance I can out of the parts I already have. I would like to know your thoughts on this build as well..
