Oil Filter question..Need info ASAP????
Well changed the oil in my 79 Vette today..Removed the AC delco PF25 and installed a Mobil 1 M1-302 a larger finer filter for better filtering...But now am not sure of the application..I was under the impression that the m1-302 replaced the pf25 and that they were the same filter except the M1-302 was longer for truck applications...Anyone familiar with the mobile 1 filters....Can tell me If I have the correct filter on the car..Thanks in advance

You asked two days too late. I just threw away the box from my filter the other day and the vette isn't close right now. That sounds right, but I can't remember if it was the 302 or the 301. Have you checked the local parts store? They have books that will say what engines the filters fit.

I have called 4 local auto parts store and all they can give me is the direct replacement for a 79 corvette...I know the Mobile1 M1-302 is not a direct replacement for the AC/DELCO PH25...But I believe it is the same filter except for the fact that the M1-302 is longer....Otherwise not sure if it has a check valve to stop drain back...Can anyone help..Thanks

I've been using that filter for about 6 months now (not the same one) and I haven't noticed any problems, I've always ran the larger filters and I haven't had any problems because of it.

It's on my 81 vette, and I haven't had any leaks yet. If you look at the top of the MI-302 it's exactly the same as the M1-202, the only difference is it's longer, the threads are the same size and pitch, the seal is the same size.
