Default Soon Merlin will live. Very soon....

Just want to send a big “thank you” to all the folks who pitched in on the fuel system issue. The problem was indeed that we were running serial. We split the system into two hoses with both pumps running parallel & got over 200 GPH. According to Weldon’s numbers, we would now be good for over 1,500HP at 50psi. I’m not sure we will even try to get to that point. Right now I am just focused on getting it on the street & getting to drive the thing. If we get over 1,000HP on the first dyno with the present pulleys (only about 8-10psi) I will be very happy. I may decide to get some more severe pulleys & go for 1,500, but then again I may not. Not a whole lot of people out there driving around in 1,000HP street cars, so I have no clue what to expect.

We’re looking at starting it next week. Chris is finishing up the radiator right now. Body is on for good. There’s no turning back! Hopefully Mpeg’s will be forthcoming shortly. Again, thank you all!

Here are the final pics that Chris took before putting the body on. Check out those nice shiny Jet coated headers! They do an awesome job…

Glad to hear you are getting close. Looking forward to seeing that beast run. Maybe you can get it done in time to drive it to the Cruise-In. :D

Somehow, I don't see you actually driving it clear across the U.S., although it would be cool. Edit: Just saw your post. If you drive to Florida, I'll meet you somewhere just to hear that beast run in person. :D

Hmmm, I've got a $300 plane ticket voucher that I have to use before October and I've never been to Seattle. It might just be worth it to come out that way, have some friends that live there too.

Sorry for rambling. Glad you're getting close.

Avery

David - You & me both!! If the body is truly on for the last time, I'd be happy to send the braces to you for just the cost of shipping. I'm concerned based on our prior history that there may be more tweaks, so I hate to send them to you just yet. Maybe I could have Bill/Chris make you a set. It might be cheaper just to send you the specs & have a local shop there do them. Shipping can be pretty steep...

Sharklover – I’m trying my hardest to be ready! Where/When is it again? I keep forgetting. I would love to be at the cruise in & meet all the great forum folks!! We put that huge tank on there so cross country cruises could be possible, but I agree with you. There are still many question marks. If you decide to come out this way, look me up!!

Clink69 – Thank you!

David – Free lunch, you got yourself a deal!! (I would have come anyway, of course). Not to worry, I won't forget about you...

That's great news Steve ! I hope you can make it to the cruise-in ! I don't know how many times I'll be able to make it, though I'm committed to going to the one in May (room is reserved :D ).

I have the Big Brown Truck making some stops lately so I've got some work cut out for me between now & then ;) .

Shoot, if you were to bring the "Insane Asylum" to the cruise-in, I might have to go after all.

Steve,

The Cruise-In is May 23 through 25th at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Drag racing, autocross, BBQ, lots of fun (or so I hear). :D

I believe there is another get together in September at the Museum too.

It's been fun watching your project take shape.

Chris@VetteFinders – I just moved my ex back to Tampa, so a stop there is pretty much guaranteed. No need to charge. I think the looks on all your faces after the ride will be priceless!! I am going to do everything in my power to be at the Cruise In!

Michael – I really hope to make it! Us 74’s have to stick together, you know. May is going to be really close, but it could happen. If we can get it started next week & then get it over to Pacific to paint it & finish the interior, we might just make it…

Bob – You got yourself a deal!!

bence13_33 – Thanks Shane! You’re a good man. I hope that in some small way, my car has given you the confidence to rip the **** off & go for your dreams. We still don’t what’s going to happen when it’s on the road, but we have to at least try, right? Without your dreams, life would be just plain boring. I have great pride in the C-3. I wish my detractors would see that. This isn’t about taking a C-3 & hacking it to pieces. This is about showing the world that the C-3 is the greatest sports car ever. It has untold potential. I simply want to better define what “untold” means.

Albert – You got yourself a deal! Chris has a show starting next Wed, so if we can’t make it happen then, it will be for sure the following week. I’ll give you a few days notice so you can plan ahead.

sharklover – Thanks Avery! I’ve always wanted to see the museum at Bowling Green, so I’m pushing hard to get done.

Metal_Wulf – May not be THE baddest, but it’s gonna be up there. I’ve seen a lot of C-3 dragsters that were really fast in a straight line, but I have never seen a car such as this which could be out of control fast on the straightaway AND be able to handle. That is my dream. We’ll know soon….

Wow Merlin! I can remember reading your posts when you were just starting this project and thought to myself....This guy is crazy and there is no way all that is possible. You have shown us there is a way and inspired alot of us to think bigger and faster......But I still think you are crazy!!!! :blueangel: You really should consider bringing that thing to PA for Corvettes at Carlisle. Having a thousand people filling the bleachers and standing around cheering for you when you pick up your trophy and begging for you to crank up the rpms would be a blast....don't you think? If you make the trip and give me a ride....steaks and beers are on me! You know....if you charge for rides, your car would pay for itself in no time:)
