Default Suspension Question

Going to replace shocks and bushings on my 82 and not up to date on suspension parts. Of coarse everyone that ever saw a Vette has their input!! I was told to only go back with stock bushing for the best ride, then I saw Energy Suspensions full Hyper-Flex Polyurethane kit but was told it might make the car to stiff and cause cracks. Also saw the TPE Bushings (Thermo Plastic Elastomer) Thermo What!? And learning about Shark Bite. I will be running the Bilsten Sport shocks with about 400HP in the engine bay. Any of your wise input will be very appreciated, and will let you know what I use. Thanks Mike motomike34@comcast.net

OK, Congrats on the car.
First off, all C3's ride like a brick strapped to a roller skate. Urethane bushings do not make it as rough so much as NEW bushings do. When I rebuilt my 77 I used Urethane, a bud of mine did his 78 at the same time and used stock rubber. Mine was not much rougher than his, but did dial in way tighter. That was what we Both thought.
Bilsten is good stuff. I think you may find that 400 is more than the stock rear end can deal with if you develope the habit of hard launches, so you might look into upgrading the rear end with a cast iron unit.

I have read many times here that a Dana 44 can't handle "X" amount of power, that is not exactly true infact there are ways to build one to take plenty of power, and 400 HP is with the specs of the 44 with factory specs. However abuse anything and you shorten its life. Just my 2 cents, I just want folks to understand suggestions like you made suggesting the guy spend another grand on a rear end "may" be unneccessary.
