Missed Opportunities 101......
Friend of mine in LC deals with Vettes...resto, consultation, repair...kind of does it on the side kind of thing, you know. We kid him b/c he's a large animal vet, and people ask what he does, and we say...oh, that's Harry, he's the Corvette guy. His hobby is veterinary medicine.
Anyway, he's been aquaintances with this older woman for a very long time, probably sice HS. As they went through life, she and her husband bought a new vette in '75...brand new. Ragtop, white, red leather, A/C, 4 spd, power everything, the whole nine yards. Well, she drove it for four years ('79) and parked it. It sat, it sat, and it sat. Till this day...it sat. Undriven with 55k miles and in storage at her mother's house. I think the lady was very large and well...you can imagine the rest. Anyway, Harry would make contact with her every few years and ask her to sell it to him. "No. I don't want to sell" Couple more years..."No. Don't want to sell." Well, eventually the lady went through a divorce and Harry didn't want to be rude and ask her to sell while she was going thru her divorce....so he waited yet again. The other day he is relaying this story to me and i tell him he needs a C3 vert bad and (he owns a '54, '62, and a '63 split window fuelie [sweet car] ) he needs to call this lady again and keep after her.
Today he calls me crying..."She sold it Jason, she sold it." To his competition no doubt. You got three guesses as to the selling price and the first two don't count.
