Will my stock 350 trans. and rear end be ok with an engine with 490 tq. and 470 hp? Street tires only and 3.08 gears.

Stock, no. I went through quite a few TH350 trans behind 406 pushing ~450 TQ.

A Turbo 350 is a really durable tranny, but it depends on the shape of the one in your car..is it worn and on it,s way out anyway or is it in decent shape?A good shift kit (reprogram kit from transgo..not some plate kit that just boosts pressure)And a tranny cooler,(not just running the lines into your rad!!)Heat will kill a tranny very quickly.. Quick shifts will eliminate heat.these 2 things will increase longevity. And also very important, avoid shocking the drive train,When doing a burnout/spinning your tires make sure your already moving avoid burnouts while at a stand still..i have had alot of success running a turbo 350 behind a BBC making decent torque without any failures just with doing the changes i mentioned.Besides if it does fly apart, they are easy/cheap to rebuild and can be made to handle alot of power with only a few mods.As for the rear,i can,t give a real opinion ,only that avoid dry hooking it!!Cheers...
