my engine rebuilder surposedly had an edlebrock air gap intake for me. when it returned from the head porters place, it was a performer 2.0. i was not happy, he also has a weiand stealth. my motor is a 489 with ported factory 820 heads and larger valves, extrem energy 274 solid flat tappet. will i be better off with the weiand or order an air gap and move on. i saw somewhere that the weiand had a larger volume and would work better on a larger cube motor. problem 2. i have a smi custom q-jet carb. not many spread bore intakes out there. will running an adapter hurt performance? even through i hava an ecklers tilt front end with the high rise scoop i don't know if an air gap with a 3/4 spacer will clear anyway. thanks for the help.
what r your thoughts on an adapter? i like the looks of the air gap is why i'm asking but i don't won't to kill off my power. might have to go with the performer rpm.

IMHO, nice as the AirGap is, if you're going to stay with the spread-bore I'd also suggest going with the Performer RPM. If you don't want carb heat, run a cam valley tray to keep hot oil splash off the bottom of the manifold and plaster up the heat risers or block them with good stainless plates (those flimsy bits sent with most intake gasket sets will burn thru in no time).
i have an ecklers tilt frontend but i did not measure before the motor was removed. it is a pretty high scoop.
what do you think the difference between the performer rpm built for a spreadbore carb and the weiand stealth for a square bore with a spread bore adapter would be? anything noticeable?
