I'm changing the cam in my 72 sbc and am wondering about the crower camsaver lifters. Do they help?
Thanks
I don't Know ... but ...
Have run race motors w/ Crower Solid Flat Tappet Lifters with hole in face and I do believe they really help. Absolutely convinced.
I did not know about the Crower CamSaver Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters with the flat groove on sides until you mention it here. I'm glad you did. That looks like a great idea. Crower does not BS or make crap. I cannot know, but I think that Crower camsaver hydraulic flat tappet could eliminate or, at minimum, help to mitigate issues associated with newer oils.
Thank you sir for this post; I learned something here.

We used the Crower solid lifters with EDM holes on Elle99's build. They are the only ones my machinist will use on a solid flat tappet build. The lifters you are referencing look like a good option. Don't see a downside. Comp also has a tool the puts a groove in the lifter bore to get more oil to the cam. With any flat tappet cam additional oil at the lifter to lobe interface is a good isea.
These came up in another thread so this one is resurected. Any forum members have personal experience with them? My machine shop uses them with good results but looking for first hand feedback.
I didnt think crower still makes those, or they quit for awhile. You can still buy them. I've been researching options for my C3. Retro rollers or a later year roller block, a bit more money, but cheaper for the long run.
