Guys i have a external balanced 383,with a cheapo balancer on it now,i have some vibration in the engine,so im going to buy a better balancer,Can you guys point me in the right direction and pickout a very good balancer for my engine.I have no experience with harmonic balancers. My engine will only be running no more then 6000 rpms.I have noticed that some balancers are very expensive Im looking for one that really works. Can any of you help a brother out here.Bill
Simply installing another damper, regardless if $50 or $250, may not solve it.
Do you have a mailorder balance job ... or did you take your stuff to someone & have them balance it?
It was a mail order.suppose to be bolt up kit.In the back of my mind i said i should get the kit checked But do to running out of money,i didnt.I was hoping a better balancer would help.
I doubt a new balancer is going to cure his problem and for fluid dampner when balancing the crank the outter ring has to be removed or it can not be balaced, I mean it will thow off both ends when tring to zero the crank out and it will not ever repeat.
So after seeing that I have always shyed away from them and when guys bring them in and I show them whats going on they useally sent them back.
I have seen many prebalanced engine kits not be close one was off 32 grams end for end all the rods were still sealed in the box and the pistons were still sealed so how did the weigh the parts???
