Hi guys, I found the code finally--OK3.57W7E1. I am pretty sure the OK is for a 3.08:1 ratio from other posts. Anyone know how to decode the rest of it?

What year ? (fill out profile). If 78', my Corvette ID Numbers book shows the axle code like this "OK W2131". Yours appears to have more/different numbers.
OK=3.08
W= Warren plant made.
213= 213the day of the year
1=First shift (D for day shift N for night shift)
Wow-you guys are great! The car is 1978 serial number 15768. The differential code was on the very bottom of the differential housing flange right next to the cover. It was hard to find as I guess you already knew. I cleaned it and looked at it from every angle I could to make sure I copied it correctly.
Unless you are the original owner or have a complete history of the car the differential code may not mean anything. Gears could have been changed over time to who-knows-what ratios. You can put a spot of White-Out on the pinion yoke and the halfshaft yoke, turn the wheel and count the number of turns of the driveshaft in relation to the halfshaft and get a close approximation of the differential ratio.
I'm prety sure it hasn't been touched as the car has 47K and everything else is Original.
wondering because at crusing speeds 70-80 it seems to be pulling fair amount of RPMs , & my tach is messed up right now ! but from what I've read ,most 4sp come with a 3.36 ?? just wondering if it was ordered with another ratio ?? I'll do the paint mark in a.m. & see what I get ?

My '69 showed 48K on the odometer when I bought it off a used car lot. Original stamping indicated 3.55:1 ratio. It was really 4.88:1 and the speedo driven gear was never switched so the miles piled up like crazy.
You could be in a similar situation. Is the speedo accurate?
I'll get my wife to drive beside me tommorrow and see. Just crusing in town say @ 30mph I'll be in 3rd gear , but not lugging , nor excessive R's ......when I get on it from 1st get I row thru the gears pretty quick and @ 120mph its revving just guessing about 4k
I got another tach somewhere I may be able to temp hook up
