Default Opinions for this setup

I have decided to go with a summit 350 trans to replace the worn out unit in my 77. I have the 3:08 rear with the 255/60 15" tires. I'm looking at a hughes 2400 stall convertor to increase launch. The engine is a stock goodwrench with edelbrock performer intake and true dual exhausts. I would like to add a cam and headers in the near future. Also possible rear gear changes to maybe a 3:55 ratio. The car is a daily driver but I would like to run it at the track once in a while. What can I expect from these mods? Is the torque convertor a good choice for this setup?

The converter should work well assuming you do not get too radical with your cam. You should really pick out a cam before deciding on the converter. I have a comp cams 270H with a 2000-2200 stall Fairbanks converter and it works great. For street driving I would not want to go much higher than the 2400 you have picked out. Remember, the actual stall speed depends on the cam, heads and how much torque the motor puts out.

Respectfully suggest that you plan on getting rid of that 3.08 rear end and deciding on what rear gears you will have before buying a cam.....Know exactly what you want to do, and then select your cam LAST. Its going to be your band leader, and you want to know who's going to be in the orchestra first.......GOOD LUCK!!!!!! :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:

You really need to think about where you are going & what's important to you like drag racing, high speed, mileage, etc. Then you can map out a plan to get there. You don't need 2400 at this time. If engine is similar to L-48, needs more cam. There is a limit on your engine peak rpms. You might want to go to 2000.
