I have a door rattle in my drivers side door when I close it. I know it's not the window because I have the window and all the window guts out of the door right now. It's a vibrating rattle when the door hits home. My passenger door just goes thud, but my drivers door, well, vibrates.
I am pretty sure it's in the interior door handle mech somewhere. There is an anti rattle grommet on the upper door rod but not one on the lower. There is not one on the passenger side either, so I am guessing there is not supposed to be. I have had my hand through the window trying to hold stuff while I slam the door, but it's hard to nail it down. Seems like there is some play in the door lock **** (can move it in and out a little), but I don't see a way to tighten this, and there is a little in and out play with the lower rod as well, but it does have the clip in place... can this be tightened?
I think I have narrowed down the rattle... The door lock **** post moves in and out a good 1/4 inch or so more than the quiet door, it makes the rod attached rattle along with it making noise itself. Any ideas on a fix. I have looked at it can't figure out why it has that play in it, or anyway to tighten it etc... Maybe wedge some spacers behind it or something?anyone else seen this and know a fix? Thanks!
Not right now as both doors are dissassembled.... I am comparing two doors that are both currently completely stripped (not completely, but have removed door panels, back plates, lock *****, windows, door handles, regulators, window tracks, door mech). One makes noise the other doesn't. One lock **** post (right now they do not have lock ***** on them) moves about 1/4" more in and out than the other.... The little plastic lock **** washers were not on there when I dissassembled the doors so I picked those up, but that is not causing this, otherwise it would be in both doors....
