I also had one made by an exhaust shop. At the same time I had 2.5" manifolds put on and Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. The system sounds way better than the old one, and the car runs better, but I can't give you an A/B comparison with and without the X pipe on an otherwise unchanged system. I do know the system is barely louder than the stock system, except when you get on it. That is what I wanted.
What does "thermoquad" mean in the subject? That's an old Mopar carburetor, ja?
I have one, there are some pictures of my exhaust system at http://cemu.org/exhaust I really like it! I got the 3" in, 2.5" out version. It came with 3" and 2.5" mandrel bends on separate pipes for coming
off the X. It worked out great, because it goes straight from my headers, to a mandrel 3", then into 2.5" and out. It really makes the car sound more like an exotic (Ferarri!), especially when you get up around 6000 RPM. I have Dynomax Ultraflow welded mufflers, and they are a perfect noise level for me with the X. Loud enough to make a decent growl, but not loud enough to attract unwanted attention. They sound great zipping along the interstate in 3rd gear with 4.11s. I'd recommend the X pipe. The car seems faster than it was with open headers and my mediocre carb tuning (before and after). Hard to say for sure though, I didn't do any real tests right before/after.
Yeah, I guess Bubba figured "the holes match, don't they"; but the car gets about 13 mpg around town and runs good enough to make the teenie bops do stupid things in front of the local gendarme when I take it out.
I've tried a couple of different Q-jets, and wasn't particularly impressed, so until I can score a deal on a Holley or Edelbrock I'll probably leave it on. Doesn't do too bad--for a plastic carbureter.
I put one in. the 2.5 to 2.5. I LOVE the sound, made a noticable difference. And it does add noticable power too. I don't know how much difference it makes, but the Dr Gas crossover is designed to optimize flow as much as possible instead of just welding to elbows together. Could be there is no real difference. Luckily I went back to the muffler shop early cause I caught em trying to put the crossover under the spring and it should go as close to the headers as possible.
