Speedo issue - '77 - C3

Got a speedo not working quite right. Both odo and trip odo are working properly. The speedo will start chirping and reading high, as in when I roll up to a stop sign it might still read 20mph when I'm nearly stopped or read 70 when I know I'm only going 45-50. I'm sure I need to lube the cable, but does that solve the speedo issue?

Do you have cruise control? Reason I am asking is the cable joins together under the brake booster and I would disconnect it from there first and lube both sides of the cable and when you reinstall the connectors make sure they are not too tight or misaligned. Either will cause your problem

Lubing the cable will make no difference. Your speedo is farqued.

Break open your piggy bank and buy a new cable....it will stop all the problems / fluctuations in a hurry! Very inexpensive and its available by all the major Corvette houses / suppliers.
