I'm installing a Felpro 1094 head gasket under aluminum heads. Does the raised emboss go towards head or block? I looked for a label on gasket and in the installation instructions, but it doesn't tell you which way is up.
If you are useing the correct gasket for aluminum heads, one side should be rubber coated, I believe this side goes toward the head. Could someone else either back me up or correct me?
It does have a fine rubber coating, but I didn't notice it on just one side. I'll need to look closer.
They got rubber on both sides, and looks simular except for the raised emboss. I mounted them with the raised emboss upwards, towards the heads. Think they will be pretty flat when torquing anyway.

Usually the mfg's say to put the raised portion goes DOWN......but most people do it the other way around. It will still work fine if you've already done it.
Thanks Jim, I have not done yet, but plan to do this week. I would have guessed it goes up, but I was wondering about the raised portion going against the softer aluminum heads. It would make more sense to have the raised portion against the block.
