Default need help with new door locks

i bought new door locks and i went to put the new one in the passanger side door on my 1980 today and have a problem.

the center shaft is longer than the stock locks that where in it so i dont understand how i can fit the lock bracket on them.the little key that holds the bracket on the new locks is way to high on the shaft,i looked and both new locks are the same.

here is a picture of the new lock (left) and original lock (right)

are they the right locks ?

the ones you have bought i believe are correct killer454. your old ones look like the stumpy locks out of the 73-77 with the corresponding pawl . im not 100% sure but i think you can just buy the correct pawls that should go with the 80-82 locks you have already bought and your in business, they are only about $5 . the pawls do sit on a bit loosely but once the male prong slips into the female section of the door catch mechanism it cant go anywhere. im sure willcox would have these in stock and he would definatly know if im correct or not.

The one on the left is for a car with an alarm system. The extra shaft length is for the on-off switch.
