Can remove ignition key in gear
Wondered if you all can help. I have an 82CE w/25k original miles and I'm able to remove the ignition key while in any gear (e.g. d1, d2, d3, reverse, etc). Other symptoms; It will only start in park. I can move the gear selector into any gear without the key. Does this have something to do with the park/neutral switch? Where is the park/neutral switch, I can't find it's location via the GM Corvette Shop Manual? Other than the key issue, it runs fine. Please help.

Later C3s don't have transmission locks.
My 4speed and all 3 automatics, all originals, can be shifted through all the gears without the key in the ignition.
Should only start in park or neutral.
Neutral safety switch is attached to the side of the auto shifter.
