My TA's and half shafts are on the way back from Bair's and now I am thinking about exhaust. I had to cut the old welded system at the rear y-pipe to pull the suspension and diff. Anyway, being in California I dare not go to true duals so was thinking about replacing the whole system with a mid-america stock or similar system with the super turbo mufflers. I have seen some posts expressing problems with fit. I would hate to order and have to ship it all back. Any opinions or experiences with the stock mail- order systems?
I order my complete 1980 exhaust system from Zip Products.. It fit like a glove!! :D I ordered pipes from the manifolds back, new cat, and two mufflers. it was also cheaper then mid america.. I think I spent like 500 on the whole system...

I can't speak to the fit of mail-order system, but I had one of their Y-pipes in my hand and it just looked too restrictive to me. I decided to see what a local muffler shop could do for me and went with them because I felt it was a much free-er flowing system. Cost-wise, I think $450 for a mail order system is about right; less the mufflers & hanagers. The mufflers I used were about $150/pair, so discounting the hangers, I guess my $750 total included about $150 labor. At first I thought that was high, but I'm sure that the guy spent at least 3 hours on my car. Anyway, I know I couldn't have gotten the system to fit with no rattles or knocks (especially that 3" pipe through the crossmember) the way they did.
Here's some pics of what they came up with if you're interested.
