Reed solid roller cams?
My question is...there is a local roundie round guy that has a Reed's solid roller listed for 125.00.It doesn't tell the lift, but part number is R296-302ULX-6A2.The specs he lists are Int.292/@.50 262,lash .022,and Exh.302,@.050 267,and lash @.024,and 106 lobe seperation. He says it is in perfect shape.
How will this act in a 12.5 to 1 377 that runs 103 octane?
I know that I have to change my valve springs out in the heads, and go solid roller lifters.
Thanks for your thoughts here.
He custom grinds cams for a reasonable cost and custom tailor one exactly like you need .
has Quite a respected reputation too !

I will look into that.I was trying to go "on the cheap",and spend all the coin on the rest of the valvetrain.I'm a dealer for all the big name companies,so I get good prices on the cams, but as I understand...it is OK to reuse a roller cam from one engine to the other, and the lifters,or w/new lifters,so was looking at this for a spirited SB 68 car.
Thanks again, and will check out the site.
Chris did a couple cams for a friend of mine and were what they wanted to accomplish .
I know it costs but there is no hit and miss with his cams , you will get what you want
Those cam specs indicate it may be for a restricted/limited-lift race class (i.e. ~.480") ... rather wide duration but low lift. It just might work ok in hicomp 377; probably gonna act like a circle track race motor though.
here's a history written by harvey crane ... about halfway down he references Reed ... this is NOT the crane cams site ... it's crane founder Harvey's site ... and there's lotsa good reading & tech there.
