I have a 82 vette and I have put a new wiper motor and switch in. And it still doesn't work. When I turn it on and a clicking sound coming from the compartment beside the battery is it the Wiper delay module? and what all years have them?
Hi,
As nobody has replied, I'll try! My '81 has a module/relay thing in the compartment behind the passenger seat. I think it is the wiper delay module but honestly can't remember for sure! Mine was held to the body by a piece of tape & had fallen off, making a loud rattling noise.
If nobody helps out, send me an IM & I'll check my manual for you. As I said, I think it's the wiper delay module, but I've had so much of the car apart that I've forgotten what 1/2 the stuff is :)
Yep, the wiper control module is in the passenger side storage compartment ('82). My delay feature doesn't work either. I'll try the fix-it method this spring. When I took the module out last summer I noticed a few obvious broken solder joints and one of the leads on the main transistor is broken off. Let me know what you find wrong with yours.
You know, I can't for the life of me figger what in hell was on GM's mind with some of their component locations and wiring in these cars....
wiper relay on the console, like my '72, and now a delay module in the storage compartment...like there isn't tons of room up under the damn dash for these parts....
the above and about another 5 miles of wiring torn out in the redo of my car...
enough to run downtown from here, so it seems...
The joys of electrickery!
Hi Bandy,
As stated above, it is the module for the wiper controller (weird place to put it?). My manual shows 2 fuses in the fuse box for the system: The Wiper fuse & the gauge illumination fuse (?!). Then it mentions an in-line fuse in the area of the fusebox. Would be worth checking all the fuses that you can find.
If you need help working out what wires should be live, etc, give me a call.
