Default Upper Radiator Hose

I have a '77 with an '86 TPI engine......have the '77 radiator....neither the '79 nor the '86 upper hose fits.....& one of those ribbed hoses that can be bent into the shape needed hits the alternator pulley.

How did those of you who've done the conversion solve that problem?

Are you talking about a rubber ribbed hose or a metal one? The metal ones should be able to be bent to fit and since they are more rigid than the rubber ones they shouldn't move once you bend them into shape.

Something like this:

You can bend them any way that works for you.

Middle 90,s 4.3 waterneck,(s-10) willroute hose bhind alt. I had to cut mine a little to work but its not a bubba fix. Then find yourself a long upper hose with a 90 degree bend to go from rad to right of alt and 90 bend left behind alt to modified neck.. m2cents

72 ls1vettes idea is prettier than my idea though!! Guess im a budget builder and use what i can..

Do you have a photo of that setup w/hose behind alternator? I'd thought of that but couldn't visualize.....

Dont have a photo, done this to a tpi motor in a s-10 had no room for hose to connect as the tpi neck was set up. my alt was a little closer to being in front of the valve cover. but looks to me that this solution will still work. go to gm site and look that water neck up. should have a photo of it. As i said this neck will send the upper hose out over the drivers valve cover right behind alt and 90 towards rad.

sorry for the slow response..

95-97 s-10 4-3 water neck..

I removed the air pump and added the fake pulley so the belt loops as original.
