Default motor build

ya did a search but have too many variables to really get dialed in. this forum is a great source tho and thanks to all that contribute.
am building a 350 small block numbers matching block. I have a torqer intake with eddlebrock 650 cfm? carb. pistons are trw .100 dome with .076cc stock heads (aprox 9.7:1 compression). does any one have similar setup and or advice on cam selection? i will be putting headers on this build.
i would love a nice lopy idle but have very tall gears (4 speed) so am trying to be very cautious on drivablility. i am however a driver (not push peddle and go guy).
what do you all think?

Doug

Stay on the conservative side but if you want the sound, comps thumper cams are working well as long as you pick the small one

Stay with a mild cam so as to not lose much torque. Look into Comp Cams Extreme Energy products.

With stock heads and a stock bottom end yo uare not going to get much more than 5500 rpm out of the motor. The Performer intake is all that is needed and will give you the hood clearance you need. The Performer rpm is good to 6500+ rpm and needs good heads to really take advantage of it. With tall gears you need all the torque you can get.
