Default Power Window Regulator...help!!

Just installed a new regulator in pass. side door and the track that's bolted to the bottom of the glass hits BOTH, the "pin" that holds the coil spring and the most-rearward bolt holding the gear retaining plate on the motor. I've made every adjustment I could see - going from one extreme to another w/ all the alignment possibilities.

Purchased from Mid-America...anyone else have these troubles? Any solutions?

Also, the most-forward and most-rearward holes in the glass (1st and 5th) are not used...what should be here?

Thanks!! :seeya

It's hard to guess at what the prob might be, since I can't see it. All this is assuming the regulator matches the old. It sounds like the glass is 'tilting' inward too much near the bottom of the cycle. Have you adj for 'in/out' tilt? The glass follows the tracks, and they can be adj/shimmed for proper glide. Also the 'snubs' or felt blocks at the top edge of dr inner, can force unwanted tilt. Do you have a service manual for ref? -Rod :chevy

The forward & rear holes are for plastic bushings. Most of the manuals only show one of them, but two are required per door. I don't think lacking them is contributing to your current problem, though. The "in - out" tilt (like camber in wheel alignment) adjustment is made using the bolts at the top of the vertical tracks. Use the outside set of bolts in the front track bracket. The front - rear tilt (like caster) can be adjusted by loosening the inside set of bolts in the front vertical track and the bolts for the short horizontal track that bolts to the inside of the door. The front - rear movement is controled by the short horizontal track also. There are stops at the bottom and top of the vertical tracks that can be adjusted to control vertical travel. It really helps if you have a manual, because the pictures show it better than I can describe it. I listed all the adjustments here in case you don't have a manual and may have just missed one of them. I've done this a few times and you really have to just play with it till you hit it. I start with all the adjusting bolts and screws loose. I've not had the problem you describe, but I set the vertical travel first. Then I align the front edge of the window with the windshield post and the top edge with the roof (set the tilt & front to rear location). The last adjustment I make is the "camber" adjustment. Then I repeat the process till I get it like I want it. This is not exactly like the book says to do it, but it works for me. Somebody who does this daily could probably do it in one pass... I can't.

Thanks for the info...I've GREATLY improved what I had prior and now the horizontal rail just "nicks" that bolt holding the motor's gear in place. Can probably grind it a hair and be set...

Thanks again!
