Default Lookiing for this Emblem

I have wheel center caps that contain this emblem, and as close as I can come is a 77-79 fuel door emblem for $81. Can anyone identify it and where it might have come from? Any clues?
Thanks
Steve

I'm sure someone could give you a specific year, but it looks more like the '73 through '76 "Starburst" emblem... But if I had to go out on a limb, I'd go with '76 hood emblem... As far as the specific application/option....

That looks like a stick-um emblem on a cap for a set of wire wheels. You might consider going the stock route for ~$9.00 each. Just peel the old off.

Northvette, my neighbor has a 76 rotting in the driveway, I will check it out.
Paul79, those caps appear to be the same size, so it might work. Certainly a lot less expensive :D
Thanks

Yup, that certainly looks to be a '75-'76 "sunburst" emblem. What's the diameter? Is smaller? You say that's a wheel center cap? Maybe it's some aftermarket thing. Hmmmmm.

The 76 center cap emblem is the same but with a solid black background and without the word CORVETTE. Unless that is from another year's special edition wheel I would say its aftermarket. I replaced all mine from Corvette Central last year.

The Dude,
The size is 2 1/4 inches in diameter, so it appears to be the same size as paul's. I was at a local Corvette only store and from a short distance away the emblem for the fuel door appeared to be identical. I really like the "sunburst" pattern and the one wheel that is missing the center cap emblem looks really bad. I was hoping this would not be that difficult, but it appears not to be the case.
76Pitter, I will pop over to Corvette Central and see what they have.
Thanks
Steve

Looked at my neigbor's 76 and the emblems are red instead of black and larger, although the gas tank emblem was close.. I will keep looking....

I just looked on my corvette cd-rom and the years 75 and 76 look like your picture only with a red background.

It's aftermarket.

At some shows and swap meets I have seen guys with repo wheels and center caps for sale. To go along with them they will have several styles of stick on emblems like this.
Check out a large tire and wheel dealer in your area.

DaBo,
I will try that, in fact I am working at a large car show(Good Guys) in 23 weeks, I will see what I can find there.
