c3sb, did you notice if the lighting was BRIGHTER after you changed the bulbs. I read some time back that you can get a little higher wattage for these bulbs. Just wondering if you noticed a big difference.
Good post..
To be honest not really. I had quite a few bulbs out so it was like night and day, but I couldn't say if any particular (working) bulb was brighter than before.
Here's what I'm planning to use instead of the LED strips on my 1981 Corvette. They install in the stock locations with no extra wiring and are $2 a piece online.
Has anyone tried these bulbs before? They come in white, red, or blue.......I'm thinking blue.

Now if they made them in that older style bayonet base junk like I have....for 2 bux each, next time around....sure....
I dread this I've been putting this off 4 years,, thanks for the heads up, mine is 75 vert, pray for me
You are in my thoughts
It's not actually that bad, to be honest if I had done the job armed with my instructions it would have been easier, but as it was the job was annoying, but not hard.
finally got around to fixing 2 lights on the speedo,,, I would not wish this on anyone the sockets were out of the speedo, replaced with new bulbs, took approx. 1hr now its beer time
I did this not too long ago but I replaced all the bulbs with 12V BA9 leds.
Free postage from Hong Kong, 0.60 cents each. great soft light, NO heat that kills the plastics and will never have to be replaced again....in theory anyway.
So far not a problem..

Great write up. I had to do this job 3 times within a short period of time while fighting with a tach conversion and speedo rebuild gone wrong.
After the third time, when a bulb popped out during reinstallation, I found it to be easier to lay on the floor board, hang my legs out the t-top and snake my hand up behind the dash through all the wires and R&R the bulbs in the speedo/tach.
Oh great with the pics etc. Just what I needed. Will get to it next weekend! Ashamed to say I found the threat through Google, why don't I look here straight away
