it's a 72 ebay project. bought the car with frame, lower windshield, and #2 mount rot on the driver's side. i got an unrestored roller with a good frame and moved all the suspension parts to the new(er) frame. finally pulled the body off the old frame and have it on a dolly.
i was able to pull the #1 and #2 rocker channel out without making any cuts! the rest of the rockers look ok(thank heavens for small things).
i got a rocker channel sleeve insert from zip, cut what remained from the bottom of the #2 area(so that the door hinge bolts are exposed from the bottom), and slipped that puppy right in there! it has to be plug welded, but it looks like it's going to work out well.

Good effort jnb. U are keeping C3's in service that would have otherwise had a lessor fate. Not sure if u asking any questions though. And some pix would be nice to see what u have done. As for the '72 coupe u may find more body rot on the bird cage hidden behind some of the glass. But most of the water leaks there do run down to the rocker channels to cause rot there. U may what to look in the windshield pillar areas for rot on the coupes birdcage.
If u need full birdcage repair then the body gets cut in two to get the birdcage out. But that is rare and as said before most of the water rot is low.
Sounds like you are getting it done. Just make sure the insert is centered in the pillar or it will throw out the door alignment. I would use something to block them in place before you weld. The front inserts are smaller then the post, from front to back. I held mine tight to the post on the outside wall. link to body off project
