What is the difference between conv. and coupe doors? Can I put coupe doors on my conv. car? :confused:
Thanks,
Steve

Not sure about the doors, but for sure the glass is different.

Believe that the conv has some extra reinforcement at the upper rear of the door as there is an alignment pin in that area. Here is a pic of that pin from ZIP. Just turn it sideways :)

JSB69, you sure about that glass being differant???
I have a hardtop for my convertible, and of course the glass fits both...well fairly well anyway...but the window lines look the same to me....between a convertible and hardtop....

Gene,
For a convertible and a convertible with the removable hard top the glass is the same :rolleyes: The glass is different on the coupe. The convertible glass at the rear slopes forward, on the coupe it is basicly stright up.

tom is right. there is a diff in a coupe window and a vert window. gm has seperate part numbers. when i went to order new glass for my 71, coupe windows were easy to find but vert windows are not so easy to get a hold of. i don't know if the doors are the same or not. i would think the vert doors had a little more reinforcement, but that is just a guess. as for fit i would check the gm part numbers and see if they are the same or not. that would be a clue as to wether they will interchange or not. just my opi, robert

Steve;
I looked through the parts books and it looks like originaly there was a different number between coupe and vert doors, but then it looks like they are both replaced by the same numbers. So it looks like they will physicaly fit but you may have to drill holes for different hardware. GM did that alot. Making replacement pieces have all the options to fit where different original part were.

Thanks Pete, It looks as if they will work except for the glass and maybe some hardware. Maybe I should just try to fine some vert doors!!! :yesnod: Does anyone know where I may be able to locate some. I have a post on the C3 parts forum, but no reply yet.
