I went out to dinner the other day and from my seat at the restaurant I see the most ridiculous vette i have ever seen pull in. Looked like a late 80s, the front bumper/quaterpanel/ground effects portion was removed and repaced with some kind of clear plastic. As I was leaving I got a closer look and there was actually a wood frame holding this clear plastic. The front shape was changed to a doorstop shape(triangular wedge) with this silly looking plastic and wood bubba rig. I couldnt look too hard as the guy driving this thing, (in wisconsin, with snow on the ground, ice, etc) was sitting where he could watch his car inside. Any ideas what he might be doing with this poor vette or is this guy just a nut???
For years a 73 Vette locally was driven to work daily buy a guy during all the seasons in various states of body repair. Was one ugly car. Then it was missing for a couple of weeks but upon return it was one of the prettiest Custom Vettes I ever seen.I actually stopped to look at the wheel flares ect.
Must be the guys only car.Still drives it rain or snow.Getting his moneys worth I would have to say.
Careful, at one time Merlin522 was talking about a clear plastic blower cover for his show car.
Let's think about this for a moment, if you had an engine like Steve's would you really want to cover it up with a hood? Obviously Steve's going to want to show this thing off (I know I would :) ). I think the idea of a clear cover over the dual blowers is a very interesting idea. I still like the idea of the "shaker hood" too though.
Steven, for the lexan you need to build a vaccum mold - due to the size of a hood or front pretty expensive - can probably match the cost of your project???
Most companies that shape Lexan for boats & such can make a scoop for a few hundred dollars. The biggest issue is blending it with the hood. My plan was to bring it inside the hood & then let the paint create the line...
Just thinking that it's funny people would consider my car a show car. Not sure how much prodding was involved in that comment. Yes, I am honored that my car is starting to look so cool, but every single part of this car was designed for go, not show. I've been watching over in the kill forums & I found where I am really going to be able to excel. This dude has a site where he has tons of great video clips of his races. Most of them are roll on races on the highway. I think there are very few vehicles on the street (cars or bikes) that are going to be able to touch this thing from 60MPH up. I say that because once I am rolling, I'll be able to really hammer the throttle without the risk of totally losing traction or breaking things. That is where I will really be able to use the power of this thing. Cruising at 60, drop a gear & then WHAM!! So, Ganey - yes, it could be considered a show car, but I think if we ever get to run together, you might come away saying that is one show car that can go!
