I was planning to use the Lokar throttle cable, but have been advised by Josh (Superpowers) that I may not like the feel. Apparently it has a very rough textured feeling and that lack of smoothness would be annoying very quickly.
His suggestion is to mod the 82 CFI cable, but with that it sounds like I would need to also mod the throttle plate bracket for cable end piece to accomodate a larger diameter round barrel stop which would be acquired from a bicycle type shop.
My thought is what about using a C4 Vette TPI throttle cable? Seems like it would be a good fit for both ends.
Anyways if you have gone down this road, I would appreciate any insight on how you accomplished this task. The devil is in the details.

My lokar cable worked fine on my LS swap. He might of had something in the cable housing. It is build just like the stock cable, except for the braiding on the outside. You can use a stock f-body cable with some minor fab work.
Another vote for the Lokar cable. I think they have a plastic lining so the cable should work smoothly. I haven't noticed anything at all with mine. Easy to install also. The ball end of the cable is a perfect fit for the socket on the pedal shaft.

Did you use the 36 inch LS1 cable Lokar TC-1000LS1?
Also with this, do you need to have the LS cable mount Lokar TCB-40LS1
I would like the plug and play aspect of this.

Yes, the 36" is the one I used. It's long enough to run straight back and curve around before entering the firewall. I used the stock cable bracket with the cruise control portion cut off and just clamped it on. The Lokar cable mount is very nice but I'd rather spend the $ elsewhere. I put a washer on either side of the firewall hole to fill the space.
I was leery of cutting the cable and finding out that I screwed up so I drilled a small hole in the throttle body slot that the cable sits in so that the cable could fit through. After I got the adjustment right I cut the cable off. This is more complicated to explain than it was to do. I could take some pics if needed.
I used a f body cable and cut it to lenght. Then I took my 73 cable and cut the old cable out at the firewall .I reamed out the hole so the f body cable would fit and then I used a barrel clamp on the inner cable at the pedal.Real smooth and alot cheaper. Charlie

I used a Lokar cable on mine too. Works great. I also used the Lokar mount for the throttle cable. At the time, mine was one of the first ones carded. Check it out.
And it's just fine.
Take care to align properly.
A friend of mine just threw his in and since he didn't take care to align near the foot pedal, now his throttle isn't smooth....and his LOKAR is a straight shot to a carb.
You can see a picture of mine under "my corvette photos"....it's quite long and it's smooth.
I ran the Lokar on mine as well. My setup is just like 72LS1Vette's, I cut the cruise portion off the stock bracket so it look nicer and used washers at the firewall side.
The problem Josh is talking about is at the throttle pedal end. The angle the cable mounts to the firewall and the connection to the pedal will cause some drag on the threaded end of the cable housing that will feel very unpleasant and makes a grinding noise if you operate the pedal by hand. The way it drags, I'm sure it will cut a groove in the housing after a period of time and may even be a self resolving problem. Another, probably proper fix would be to make a angled shim to tilt the cable's entry into the firewall down a bit.
The good news though is, as many others have mentioned here - actually operating the pedal with your foot, you don't notice it (can't hear it either when car is running) so it's not a big deal. I thought I was really going to dislike mine when assembling it and testing the throw - turns out when I'm driving, it's fine, not noticeable at all.
All in all, the '82 cable will probably work better and if you tried them side by side you would probably notice a difference, but the Lokar does work fine.
FWIW, if you can find an '82 cable, you can use the type of barrel the Lokar uses to install without modding the throttle body end.
