Default Conv top questions

I am going to have the top replaced on my 73, and I have a couple of questions.

1. Is there a difference between the MAD and Ecklers tops? Any other recommendations?

2. Same question for top weatherstriping.

3. The drivers window has a terrible air leak at the back where it meets the top, can I move it back a little by adjusting it in the door? Or, can the top be adjusted to seal better?

4. The two pins pop out of the deck occasionally, can that be fixed?

Thanks,
Joe

I've had a few tops from differnet suppliers and I will ONLY buy a top from AL Knoch at this point.

Can't remember where I got weatherstripping....I've heard Corvette Rubber is good.

I recall seeing posts on window adjustment on this forum, and/or on the NCRS forums.

I think the pin problem can be solved by adjustment of the mechanism under the deck.

I agree, get an Al Knock top. Most mailorders sell his top anyway. I too used Corvette Rubber weatherstrip, not sure about other brand quality. The window can be adjusted, in fact a good installer will check the fit of the widow to top. The pins have adjustments.

Be aware that upon removal of the original top, you may find significant rust at the header(front of the top frame where it meets the windshield). It is common for this part to rust out. I had to replace this section by having my restorer weld in a new section. You can buy it from most mail orders for around $300.00. Just be prepared.

Regards,

Jim
