I talked the parents into letting me keep the vette for a symester and see how it goes...if it run's into a lot of problems I'll sell it, if not I keep it...
keep in mind, Im not aloud to work, so once hte money i have saved is gone, I have to hit them up for repair cash, which means they'll have me sell it...and at the moment, I have no money saved.
You need to do some creative thinking on how to keep the Vette. My daughter is going off to college this fall and bucks are tight but there will be NO vette selling. I figured out a few ways around it........
So let me break this down...you're keeping it until the next thing breaks?
nah, Im keeping it until I run out of money fixing things, unless my student loans and grants can pay for stuff, I won't be left with must of an option(according to my parents)
Two words. Co-op... or maybe that's one word. Whatever. Talk to the people in your co-op office at school. Get a good-paying internship. Just be warned. The amount of money that the Vette requires is directly proportional to how much you make.
The club around here (Beachcombers) has "Tech nights" where someone brings in a car with a problem, and they tell the owner what parts they need and then invite everyone over to show people how to fix the car. Its basically free mechanic training, plus they feed us for free (It's a nice club). You should see if your local Vette club does that as well.
I also have noticed that big projects (such as rebuilds) seem to attract the more technically experienced members to make sure the owner going through the rebuild doesn't make any wrong turns.
I think I recoup the annual fee in free meals alone! :seeya :chevy
I will look at joining the club in charlotte when I move up there in the fall, I've talked to some people that live there and they seem very nice.
Now all I need to do is get the intake off to have the bolt drilled out, then put it together again, get the paint fixed, and use it daily as I try to sell my VW jetta to pay off the loan I got to paint the vette, THEN I'll look at upgrades and other things.

Hey Daniel, what college are you attending? I'd like to donate some money to the English department. j/k :jester

No offence Daniel, but what are you thinking? It's time to save every $ you can and keep the car running well, not time to improve it. From what you said in your opening post,
"so once the money i have saved is gone, I have to hit them up for repair cash, which means they'll have me sell it...and at the moment, I have no money saved"
If the car doesn't need it to run reliably, don't do it!!!!

ya, sorry, it was unclear, I ment if it everything was running well, and I had cusion money, on top of repair money(I.E. a grand, I can do a $100 upgrade, and still have $900 for emergancy).
sorry about that. And an upgrade in my opinion is replacing the window motors because they are slow...its not a nessisity, but it'd be nice....thats what i ment.
