Default new motor from machine shop

what should i check, what should i look out for?. cam is garbage after measure (lobes are .02 different). not too confident in this place i chose. have surface plate, bore gages-mic's. can check it all to tenths but what are the most critical. cant spend too much money now.
one head has a rock on the plate, .002 out. not too worried their. it will settle in.

what do you all think?

You might get a better response in the engine mods section...

How did you measure it? If it's a dual pattern cam, the lift could be different for intake and exhaust.

What did you have them do? Is the motor assembled? Is the cam new? Is it a dual pattern?

From reading your post it sounds like you should not touch or judge anything that was done. Tenth's don't do you any good when checking machining accuracy. Everything should be measured within half of a ten thousandth or less.
If you spent your money with a quality machine shop and he did what was needed leave it alone. If you don't trust them why did you use them?

I trusted them just measuring every thing before it gets put in. documenting too. but woa, one lobe on the cam .02 shorter. something is not right here. hey sometimes things slip by quality but i am not about to just bolt it together and hope it wasnt one of my parts in that engine.

as stated .002 on the head is not an issue as far as i can tell.
thanks for the responses
