My father-in-law suffered a debilitating stroke about a month ago and can no longer work. Along with losing their house, he will need to sell his corvette. He doesn't know anything about cars and has asked if I could take care of selling it for him as I have a couple first gen Camaros.
I don't know too much about the vette world and was hoping I could get some help here. I volunteered to front him 50% of the cash it is likely to bring, as well as store it over the winter, in order for it to be sold in the spring when there is likely more buyers.
I realize 1980 isn't exactly the pinnacle of Corvette years, but it is an L48 with 103k on it, black, black leather, auto, ac, pw, pl, and t-tops. It has it's original drivetrain. I verified the engine by checking the suffix stamp and vin on the engine (ZAK).
Within the next few weeks, I will find a way to get it to our house to store for the winter and can get some pics of it then - as I know it is tough to throw a figure out without pictures. I'd give the car an 8.5 out of 10. The seats have some cracking and there are a few small scrapes here and there, but overall it's a pretty nice car for being 30 years old.
Can anyone give me a ballpark figure on what this car would bring in the springtime? Also, where is the best place to sell it? I.E. Ebay, any good vette sites, etc.
To the mods: If this is in the wrong forum, please move it. I wasn't sure which was the correct one to post under.
TIA to anyone who can help.

I am the original owner of what must be almost the same car. Blk Blk L-48 Autos are never going to be a rare Car. But they make good drivers. localy there is a 80' on craigs list that runs good but needs Paint and interior work and its been on there for a month at a 2k selling price. The way things are now I'd consider 10k big money. Sounds like the Car is mostly Stock and that will work in your favor.
I'll post some pics when I get it back to my house. Have to round up a trailer first as mine is in storage for the winter and I can't get it out until spring.
For the person who asked where the car is located....It is in MN.
Thanks again for advice. Really wish this car would be about 10-15 years older - I'd pick it up for myself to help him out.
I appreciate your dream of it being 10-15 yrs older, but nothing wrong with a 80 vette, bill
Nothing wrong at all - I didn't mean it that way. I've owned about a dozen different big block Chevy's over the years, but never a Corvette. Always wanted one, but the entry barrier has always been out of reach at the time. I've passed on a couple that would like outright theft at today's prices though! I would have to part with something I have now or risk sleeping out in the garage with the cars. As much as I'd enjoy keeping the car in the family for him, I just couldn't justify selling one of the Camaros for it.
