to a 670 cfm Holley 4150 for my 1980 /L82. Everything is back togeather and I have the fuel lines all back on and I am getting fuel to the carb. Question is how long will it generally take to fill the bowls in the carb? The reason I ask is because I killed the battery turning it over. I don`t see any fuel through the clear plugs provided. Battery is charging. Anything else I should check?
OK got it started. Idled ok, but when I reved it up it would pop. Looked at the fuel pressure gauge and it was at 4lbs and dropping. Noticed a leak. Fixed it. started it up again and it shows no fuel pressure. It has a new mechanical fuel pump. I`m going to wait a little bit and try to start it up again to see what my pressure it. Got a feeling the mechanical pump may be bad. Could the low fuel pressure cause the popping? I did pull the intake off to fix a small oil leak at the rear. I did spray some carb cleaner around the carb base and intake base to see if it reved any higher( which it didnt). Thanks in advance
you pulled the intake off.......did you index your distributor at both the rotor and base?
LOL. yes I did. Made that mistake before. Knew better this time. when I placed the rotor back in it pointed exactly where I had my mark. So did the base. I just put 5 gallons of fuel in the tank, it was showing just under a quarter tank and maybe the pickup is a little high so i wanted to make sure it enough had fuel. I`ll look at it again in the morning.
