I've not had a problem with the adjustable strut rods.. We've sold quite a few of them over the years and not had a problem with the ends coming off. Not sure what brand is on your link above but we have them in the forum special section at this link:
Installing these will make it easier for a knowledgeable alignment guy to set up the rear end. Include VBs Smart Struts bracket for the complete package.

The rear of my Vette was lowered with 10" bolts and the shortened spring to accomodate. I've never seen a C3 lower than mine in the rear. And I had enough adjustment with the stock camber bolts. Just installed Energy bushings in the strut rods.

Just installed a new diff assy and my old rod ends had bad bushings and I installed a set of those same adjustable units. Mine didn't come with instructions though which was a bummer. Much head scratching went into that install.

Same with mine. I decided that the little spacers went to the bracket end and that the rods were non-directional.
I just installed these today with my new diff and half shafts. You are correct, the spacers are for the inside brackets. That is the only place they would fit.
I like them. I need to do a little adjusting tomorrow, before my big cruise. I want to get the wheels perfectly perpindicular, with me in the car.
My car is lowered on the 10" bolts and the factory strut rods are a PITA to adjust, but these are a breeze.

I'm assuming this adjustment is a rather involved process, correct? I'm just guessing here but seems that you would have to lift the wheels, make the adjustment, lower the wheels on the ground and exercise the suspension to see how level the wheels are. Then, repeat as neccessary????????????
