1. my turn signals seem to flash slow, about 3 seconds between flashes (definitely slower than most other cars i see on the road). anyone else with a late C3 vette care to chime in if this is a normal speed? if not, what's the solution... change the turn signal flasher or switch?
2. also, turn signals don't show up in the instrument cluster (but audible 'click' sound is there). there should be a little arrow (green?) in the center between the speedo and tach, right? seems like a p.i.t.a. to get up behind the dash, right?
Also, verify that you have the correct bulbs installed.
Standard bulbs will often cause slow flashing turn signals due to the current difference seen by the flasher.

interesting.... did not know that. i'll check that out.

This alone could cause the problem.
The older original type flashers work on load, more bulbs in the circuit=faster flashing , less bulbs =slower flashing.

ah, that's interesting. guess i'll have to check those little buggers...

i have an '80 but i think some of your instructions will apply. looks like a fun one to dive into. you know it's a doozy when step 1 is to get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast!
Do late C3's use a signal cam? Or hazard cam? One of those round capacitor looking things? I had one of those go on a 72 Nova. Quick fix and the signals worked again.
well, i think i found the problem. i inspected all the exterior bulbs and a few were not only bad, but had melted some of the socket plastic. and, a simple act of removing a driver-side cornering bulb turned into a 1-hour ordeal: really old, corroded bulb plus a thick layer of mud and... clay? yeah, clay all up in the socket. i guess mud got in there and the heat turned it into clay? also, discovered passenger-side cornering light socket is missing, so it's on my next parts order.
so... progress: turn signals flash better/faster during the day, but still a bit slow at night with lights on (no doubt due to missing cornering light/socket).
