Default Help...Ideas needed?

I used the Harmonic Balancer Installer from Autozone. Now the insert from the kit that goes into the crank snout is stuck. It's flush with the balancer so I can't get a good grip on it. Any ideas how to get it out?

Rule #1 coat every piece of the installer in anti-seize compound.

Since you're already there....I say use an impact driver. It's like a screwdriver that you use a hammer on. As you strike it, it rotates the bit clock-wise or counter-clockwise.
(I'm assuming the stuck insert is screwed into the crank nose)

You will wind up damaging the bit but dont worry, Auto-zone never checks their loan a tools....I know because they look like crap when I check them out.

Yes, the stuck insert is screwed into the crank nose.

Another idea, go get a screw extractor. It looks like crap but they actually work...just take your time. (It's basically a reversed drill bit)

You could either heat the balancer with a propane torch or spray some freeze spray on the insert to get a little clearance. I would try the freeze spray first. If you need a combination of the two, heat the balancer toward the outside edge and then freeze-spray the inner part of the insert. I wouldn't worry about wrecking an AutoZone tool. Most of the ones that I have rented have had unimagineable things done to them already.

Used a screw extractor and it worked perfectly. Thanks for all the ideas.
