does anyone have pictures or opinions about putting the 67 stinger hood onto a late model c3? i have seen part of a picture in ecklers but not how it looks as a whole.
The "Stinger" style hood looks wicked if you ask me. I really like the way it looks, but I would be concerned about driving in the ran with it. I don't do much driving in the rain but I have gotten caught in the rain on more than one occasion. Just something to think about.
There use to be a guy on here that had one on his car...THAT LOOKED VERY SWEET IN MY OPPINION....almost like it should have been on the car to begin with. Can't rember who it was...but definitley remeber the car. If the hood is from Ecklers it should be good quality. Fair warning though...sometimes its a little tough getting the hoods to match perfectly.....I had to work the BB hood I added to my 72 to match with the fenders perfrectly.
Bence,
Don't sweat it buddy. The scoop on the hood is not cut out, its just a little smoke and mirrors trick. Though you can cut it out if you wanted. Andddd, all you would have to do is make a removable insert to block the opening when running in the rain. Ecklers has told me that the 67 chrome insert can be slightly modified to work with the C3 hood. The insert is not cut out.
Vancour Fiberglass from Louisianna (?) also sells that hood. They bring a only a few to Vettes of Carlisle and have a decent show special price. I will probably get mine from them in the fall. I hear conflicting reports on the finish of the Ecklers hood. I'll save the money and make Vancours fit.
The hood looks outstanding on Robert Holtman's red 69 conv. The chrome bumper really sets of the black stripe.
Be cool!

Those stinger scoops sure look  I just have a little shorty one sitting on my hood and am probably going to just extend it to the back of the hood. My BB does fit under it though, but just.
Yeah that's the car....man it looks nice on there...also really dig the TT wheels!
Vanacors is who I bought my hood from. Supposedly they make them for ecklers...just give you a better price. Although Ecklers will match anyones price now, if you show them an ad.
I was relatively pleased with the hood, but had to work it some...more than I liked. THE UNDERSIDE WAS EXTREMLY ROUGH, much more so than the stock hood I took off, and some of the edges were not up to par. Also on the drivers side towards the winsheild where the latch bolt on bottoms...The top had some small pinholes (very small) that I didn't catch before painting. Anyway they're not very noticeble....but agrevating that that stuff isn't taken care of...of course I'm mad I missed them even with several steps of primer surfacer and guide coat....just tough to see every thing.

Re: stinger hood (454Big)
I really like this hood also. I only wish that I could find a scoop to go on an '80-'82 hood that was in proportion to the stinger on it.
I like the stinger on the '80 and the scoop of the '67 style hood, an upgrade to the later style stinger would be a more modern combination in my opinion.
In other words this is the combo I'm wanting to put on my car! Anyone know where to get one? JIM
My hood was from Eckler's. It is long style. To make it fit right, I had to remove the wiper door and build up the tops of the fenders a little. I believe if you put it on a '73 and later it would be a bolt on job. I just got it for a little more room under the hood. I used to have a big block hood on it. big block hoods only give more room at the radiator. With the ZZ4's dual plane and a 3" air cleaner the 427 hood buged at the center when latched closed.
And it's a '68.
Thanks for the kind words. She's blushing.
