I've been told that my engine is out of a 70 Corvette (chassis is 74).
The engine has 3970010 on it, so this is little help to me, seems GM used that ID for a load of V8's
The block has been decked, so the front engine pad just shows "151429967" and is pretty faint.
What is that number? Are there other numbers elsewhere that might help?
That particular block was used for many years including 1974.
To determine the year look at the casting date located on the passenger's side on top of the transmission bell housing mounting flange. At least you will know when the block was cast.
The VIN you posted I could not find a reference for. Maybe someone else can help you.

K10 would be November 1 1970. If it were a Corvette block, it would have gone into a '71 MY car. The VIN derivative would read 1S1XXXXX which is why I asked if the 5 on yours was actually an S. In any case the final VIN for a '71 ended in 1S121801, and your stamp is 429967, so no dice there.
I was told it was a rebuild engine, so that makes sense.
Other than Nov 1970 and generic GM SBC, is there any way to narrow down where it came from?
It could very well be a 70 block with heads from X, intake manifold from Y.
Intake manifold has a series of numbers, are they of any use?
I'll remove the valve covers and check the number in there as well, perhaps that will at least give me a better idea of what I've got.
