hey guys im going to be painting my engine parts in the next week or two. i have a questions. is it bad to have paint on parts in the motor? like the back of the timing cover, inside valve covers. what if i get some over spray in the valley? is it a big deal? ill be using some sort of high temp engine paint
No you do not want to paint the inside surfaces of anything like timing covers or valve covers.. a little mist of overspray here and there wont hurt nothing but not any more than you can avoid..
Also, the DUPLI-COLOR rattle can engine paint works really well. I painted mine over two years ago (orange) and it still looks great. Take the time to prep it good, you'll be happy with the results if you do..

That's the most important step for sure. I failed to do this on an engine I built...wow, coming up on 12 years ago I guess...and the paint peeled within a year. It's in my pickup, so I just haven't made time to pull and detail it
