Default Spark Plug Washers

Picked up a new set of AC44S Plugs. Not made anymore. Installing them in my 1969 L46. The washer comes with the plug but not on it. Looking at it carefully, one side has a slightly larger diameter than the other. Which side faces the head. You probably will say it doesn't matter but I need to be sure. Why would they make them that way. I had to pull the shields to get to the plugs and it is time comsuming. Just want to do it right.

i dont think it matters. you are probably seeing a manufacturing effect instead of an engineered part.

Yes they have always been made that way. I dont think it really matters, but I put them on with the larger side to the plug.

They don't slip on. You have to twist them onto the threads of the plug. They do seem to set better when the larger side face the plug. Thanks for the advice.
