i have the same problem as you. no brake pedal. just got my motor going again and starting to work on brakes again. i have a mini vac so i can pull fluid but just cain't get a hard pedal. after sitting for a few months my rear master cylinder res was very low. thinking i may have a leak even thro i haven't found it. going to look closer tomorrow. i hate working on brakes.
Having never owned a vette before this one I wasted a lot of fluid before I "discovered" that it had 8 bleeders. I had to back away from it before it dawned on me that it had outboard calipers too...yea I have been known to be not very bright , especially after something frustrates me from not cooperating.
Guys, you can't fight it. Just do as others have said and spend the $60 on the Motive Power bleeder. I was once like you. STUBBORN. All the time I wasted trying to bleed my brakes the traditional way was worth WAY more than $60. What is your time worth?

My 79 only has 6 bleeders. What years had 8 bleeders. I used "speed bleeders to bleed my system, $9.99 a pair from Jegs. They worked well; however, Motive bleeder may be the way to go as you can use it on other vehicles.

Just make sure to do one or the other. Speed bleeders and the motive bleeder together wont work. I like the motive bleeder, it allows you to quickly flush an entire system without having to constantly stop and top off the reservoir.

I think the speed bleeders would work with a Motive Bleeder. The speed bleeders bleed out like a regular bleeder when opened. They just have a check valve to prevent air from entering system when you let off of the brake pedal when bleeding manually. If I ever have to bleed the system again I'll buy a Motive. When I bleed my system I flushed it out until all the fluid was clear. But, who knows I may have a caliper go bad in the future.

Dangit, now I have to go look. I only had the back end apart so thats as far as I had to go to find inboard/outboard bleeders. I haven't torn in to the front yet is it different?
Restoring 70 with power brakes..new master new prop valve, new lines.
have no leaks anywhere went around the calipers 4 times last night pump/bleed and can't get peddle ?? driving me nuts. One rear caliper has broken bleeder on inside, all others are fine. I would think the rear would bleed with just the one bleeder working for now ???
any thoughts.
I have had excellent results using Speed Bleeders. You'll need 6 of them, one each on the front calipers, and two each on the rear calipers. I also use a rubber mallet to whack each caliper to knock any air bubbles free so they raise to the bleeder area. You didn't say how much brake fluid you have used, but it isn't unusual to use 2 quarts to get all the air out. As some have mentioned, be sure the brake light warning switch is centered by checking that the BRAKE light is NOT on with the ignition on - parking brake OFF.
I have a MityVac that isn't very useful on these cars, but the small container that comes with them is excellent for collecting the used fluid. When it is full, the MC reservoir is ready to be refilled.
