What do you think I should ask if I sell my current engine as a long block minus the oil pan? Any ideas? It has about 10,000 miles on it, 268H Xtreme Comp Cam, and the rest is factory (heads, pistons, crank, rods, etc)
Whenever I see an ad for an engine, I'm always concerned about the quality of the build/rebuild. That's not to say there is anything to worry about yours, but still, I think the possibility of getting screwed lowers the value (in the buyer's mind).
I bought a high mileage long block, stock, 91 one piece rear main, for $250. Being that yours is low mileage and has a nice cam, it should bring twice as much. Maybe more. Too much more, however, and you're bumping into some of the lower end rebuilds. Another thing to think about, is the shipping hassle, assuming you don't sell it locally.
I sold the original L48 engine, having been rebuilt by previous owner, it ran fine, no oil consumption, powerful, sold complete engine for 600 bux....
guy got a steal...but that's Jax Fl. cheap town...would have gotten a grand or more up in Wash d.c.....
