So i had the battery out of my car for over a month and when i put it back it doesn't start. The stereo turns on and all the electronics seems to work but the engine doesn't crank or turn over...The battery i have is a deep cycle so im lil confused on what could be wrong. any ideas?
Are you sure the battery has a full charge? Use a volt meter to check the battery voltage, a fully charged battery is 12.6v. The radio doesn't draw much current, it will still work even if the battery is not fully charged.
yea it was that i threw my battery from my other car in it and it started. only thing now the thing wont shut off.... the ignition keys in the off position and it still runs. No i remembered why i yanked the battery.
starter is fairly new 2 years old
the ignition switch is about a year.... so i don't thinks that's the reason why....
thanks for advice for new problem
well i dynamated the trunk and finished up reinstalling the carpeting. nothing to the ignition, grounds or engine harness. Seat belt interlocking system? i haven installed the seat belts cause i was gonna go with a different type.
a friend of mine suggested it has something to do with the colum and that his 69 camaro had a similar issue.
Yeah, the seat belt interlock system will keep you from starting the car if both the seat belts aren't connected, and if there is no weight on the seats. There is a connection on the bottom of the seat for the weight sensor. This thread has a pic of the connector on the bottom of the seat: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...ight-side.html
Try pressing the reset button on the passenger side firewall, in the engine compartment. It's a silver box.

The problem may be that the ignition switch is not adjusted correctly. The key switch is connected via a metal rod to a ignition switch which is bolted to the lower, upper side of the steering column. There is a forum member that is an expert on steering columns, unfortunately, I can't remember who it is.

Jim shea is the expert on steering columns, you can find his papers at http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com look on the right under Corvette steering papers.
It could be the rod and or rack is out of adjustment.
The seat belt interlock only stops you from starting the car if the seat belts are not buckled, it has nothing to do with shuting the car off.
To bypass the interlock move the seats forward and open the quick connects under the rear of the seats.
So did the OP's car start already? If so, than it might be that he didn't install the ignition switch correctly. I thought he was still trying to get the car started.
ha..I´m under similar issues..haven´t use car for a long time..but in my case I think is related with the starter..its kinda heavy and it hesitates..its a 1973
Had same problem with my '74, car kept runming with switch off. Turned out to be a short in the wiring leading to the starter motor. Bill
This happened to me too. When I installed the starter, one of the wires was out of place, so the car kept running after the key was turned off. Check your starter wiring carefully.
okie sry for bring this dead thread back but I was busy working on my lq4 engine prepping it for the swap. But its been so nice out side i wanna drive my car around. I checked the starter wire and other than being a bit dirty (which i cleaned with electric cleaner) it still having that same problem with not shutting off.
