Has anyone had good luck with high temp paint on their headers? I know that ceramic is the way to go but I'm wondering if there's any paints that work nearly as well.
Re: High temp paint for headers - recommendations ? (John Cassidy)
Best advice is to leave them as is. I have not touched my headers since they went on the car. With limited exposure to the elements they have held up pretty well.

I was not a believer in high temp paints until I tried "Treclad high temp paint" It abought $4 a can The stuff works great. I painted my rusty headman headers and the paint has not pelled or burnt off. You can buy this paint anywhere But make sure you buy the Hi temp paint not there regular paint.

I've never tried it on headers but I used Eastwoods Hi Temp Manifold paint on my stock manifolds and it held up for about 3 or 4 years with just a minor retouch once in a while. I believe they have it now in different colors including cast grey and silver. I'm going to paint my header to main system hookups with it. I tried the Calyx stuff on the manifolds initially and it didn't hold up very well. Just my $.02.

Sounds strange, but have had good luck with Krylon BBQ high temp paint. Comes in several colors if you can find them. Black isn't hard to get. JCL   :chevy "Sidepipes are the way"

go to http://www.eastwoodco.com
Then look under specialty coatings and look at manifold paint. They also have high temp paint for mufflers and pipes in an aerosol.
